3 ways to create flat lay photos for your product based business

Do you have a product based business and want to showcase these items in your social media? Today I will share 3 tips on how to create eye catching flat lay photos without having to hire a photographer.

  1. Use the square setting on your phone to set the correct dimensions for your photos. This is the best setting for creating static posts on Instagram and it won’t cut off your image. If you want to post to your stories, you can use the vertical default photo setting during the same shoot to have some content saved for your stories.

  2. Have enough negative space (in the design world that means have some blank areas between your products and props for the most appeal.) This will create a visually appealing look to your grid and make it so that the image stands out.

  3. Use natural lighting or position your photo with some studio lights. I like doing flat lays in the early day time when the light is bright in my home. If I need more light, I use my studio lights and also use the brightness feature on my phone after I take the photos to lighten the image. This will make it pop and give it that professional appearance.
